Viewing Party - Football vs. Eastern Washington

Posted By: Scott @ 11:24 am - 09/11/2009
Categories: Viewing Parties, Events

The viewing party is on for watching our No. 10 California Golden Bear football team take on the Eastern Washington Eagles. Here are the details:

WHO: Spirited Cal fans like yourself (or any others you’d like to invite)
WHAT: Eastern Washington Viewing Party
WHERE: 2233 S Huron Pkwy APT #3
WHEN: Saturday Sept 12, 2009 @ 5:30pm or ~7:30pm (will explain below)
WHY: Because watching a Golden Bear devour an eagle will be awesome. Frankly - I agree with Benjamin Franklin that our national bird should have been a turkey.

Now - there are two options for times due to the Michigan/Notre Game conflict:

(1) Watch the Cal game LIVE starting at 5:30pm

(2) Finish watching/attending the Michigan vs. Notre Dame game, which should end around 7:00pm. Then watch the Cal game on DVR delay.

My current plan is option #2. If there is an overwhelming desire to watch the Cal game live at my place, then send me an e-mail and let me know.

See you Saturday!

Go Bears, Beat the Eagles

Viewing Party - Football vs. Washington

This is the regular season finale, vs. the 0-11 University of Washington Huskies. Despite playing a winless team, post-Big Game, with the bowl game destination essentially set in stone, the football team sounds motivated to perform well.

This will be our seventh viewing party of the year. For possibly the first time all year, we will be able to watch the game in beautiful high definition. So come on over and enjoy good football, good friends, good drinks, and good food.

Where:
Scott Moura’s Apartment
2233 South Huron Parkway, #3
Ann Arbor, MI  48104

When:
Saturday December 6, 2008 @ 3:00 pm

The Club will be providing chips, soft drinks, other beverages. Please feel free to bring anything more you may like.

In following our club’s tradition, we will be joining the Stanford Alumni Club of Michigan at Bailey’s Pub & Grille in Dearborn to watch rivalry football, eat appetizers, and consume beverages. This is the club’s signature event, and the best opportunity to meet fellow Cal alumni and have a good time.  So please come join us to support the team, so we can get the foam axe back from the Stanford Alumni club of Michigan.

We also use this event to hold our one and only official meeting to discuss club dues, events, and elect new officers. If you are interested in volunteering for an official leadership position, then please let us know by sending an e-mail to calalumniofmichigan@yahoo.com.

Viewing Party - Football @ USC

The Golden Bears control their Rose Bowl destiny, but one huge obstacles stands in their way: The mighty Trojans of South-Central LA. Despite the Trojans’ recent dominance, our Golden Bears always play them close. Hopefully this year Cal will come out on top. So join all the Cal Alumni of Michigan to root on our Golden Bears to beat USC!

This will be our sixth viewing party of the year. The game has a relatively late start time (8pm), so it may be 11:30pm or so by the time the game ends. Also, last time we convened at Arena Sports Bar, but this time we decided to watch from my apartment. Here are the details:

Where:
Scott Moura’s Apartment

Viewing Party - Football vs. Oregon

Posted By: Scott @ 8:32 am - 10/29/2008

UPDATE (11/1): WE WILL BE WATCHING THE GAME AT ARENA SPORTS BAR AT 203 E WASHINGTON AT 3:30PM, NOT SCOTT’S APARTMENT.

During the current Jeff Tedford era, the matchup against the Oregon Ducks has always produced exciting games. This year will likely be no different, as both our Golden Bears and the Oregon Ducks are still vying for a Pac-10 championship. Also, besides all the hard hitting, running, and catching an awkwardly shaped leather ball, we get to see a male model fashion show sponsored by Uncle Phil Knight.

Work it boys!

It is also worthwhile to mention the ever so talented Oregon Dance team, who gets my vote for best cheerleading unit in the country.

Your pirouettes are so excellent that I cannot help but root for your Oregon Ducks!

But my heart still lays with Oski and his sexy yellow sweather, recessed eyes, and goofy walk. Some come join the California Alumni Association of Michigan in our fifth viewing party of the year. Here are the details:

Where:
Arena Sports Bar
203 E Washington St
Ann Arbor, MI  48104

When:
Saturday November 1, 2008 @ 3:30 pm

Viewing Party - Football @ Arizona

Who would have thought at the beginning of the season that this game would feature a matchup of two Pac-10 heavyweights? The truth is, Arizona has been feasting on an easy schedule, which explains their loss to those kids on the farm. This week let’s get together to root on our bears and avenge the 2006 loss in the desert that cost us the Rose Bowl.

This will be our fourth viewing party of the year. The game has a VERY late start time (10pm), so it may be 1:30am or so by the time the game ends. Here are the details:

Where:
Scott Moura’s Apartment
2233 South Huron Parkway, #3
Ann Arbor, MI  48104

When:
Saturday October 18, 2008 @ 10:00 pm

Control of Mobile Sensor Networks

Abstract:

Interest in using autonomous mobile vehicles, such as unmanned air vehicles (UAVs), to form  mobile sensor networks is gaining momentum in many different military and civilian sectors. This seminar will present recent work at UC Berkeley on several aspects of this problem.

The first area is defining a distributed system architecture that includes a mission definition language, middleware to access available assets and monitor the mission status and finally a distributed control structure that permits task allocation, path planning and aircraft control.

The second area is cooperative target search and localization using an information theoretic approach. The goal here is to maximize the probability of target detection while simultaneously reducing the error in its localization.

Results from recent flight tests will be shown to illustrate the practicality of our approach.
