Cal v Stanford: Big Game 2010 Viewing Party

Posted By: Jenny @ 7:21 pm - 11/15/2010
Categories: Viewing Parties, Events

You recently voted (thanks!) for us to hold our own Big Game viewing party in Ann Arbor and your wish is our command. So be sure to stop on by and join us as we watch our Bears crush Stanford yet again and make it an 8-1 record in 9 seasons (personally, I don’t even count ‘07..)!!! The details are…

WHAT: Cal v Stanford: Big Game 2010 Viewing Party
WHEN
: Sat, Nov. 20 @ 3:30 pm ET
WHERE: Blue Leprechaun Pub, 12220 South University, Ann Arbor, MI
WHO: Your fellow Bears!!.. also open to Stanfurd fans (don’t worry, only the ones who can handle losing!)
WHY: It’s not called Big Game for no reason!!

Not to mention… ever thought of becoming a more active member in the Michigan chapter of the Cal Alumni Association? Well here’s your chance! At the Big Game viewing party, we’ll also be accepting nominations for officer positions for next year. If you’re thinking about playing a bigger part in CAA-Michigan by taking a leadership role, this is your opportunity to make that happen!

What more reason do you need to come join the party this Saturday? Remember, though, that it IS football Sat in a college town, so it’ll be reasonably packed and you may want to arrive early to secure your seat. But do come, bring your friends and cheer our boys onto another victory!

GO BEARS!

NEW STUDENT WELCOME RECEPTION BBQ: Sat, July 17, noon-4 pm - Please RSVP!

Posted By: Jenny @ 10:35 am - 07/6/2010
Categories: Uncategorized, Events

Remember rushing the field at Memorial Stadium after our EPIC win in Cal vs. USC? Or that annoying roommate who’d always play video games into the wee hours on the desk right next to your slumbering head? (Grrr!!) You know you do! Memories of Cal loom large for us all, so why not get together with your fellow Cal alums to reminisce and help initiate the new generation of Bears into our ranks?

Please join us for our annual fun-filled day in the park with the latest Cal admits, as we trade stories, eat lots of food and prepare them for the awesomeness awaiting them in Berkeley. Tasty grilled fare will be served, including hamburgers, hot dogs, snacks and drinks. We’ll also be tossing around Frisbees and kicking around a soccer ball, just for those of you ex-jocks (let’s show these Michiganders why Cal Ultimate dominates year after year!). The details are…

WHAT: NEW STUDENT WELCOME RECEPTION BBQ

WHEN: July 17, from noon-4 pm (show up anytime!)

WHERE: County Farm Park (Platt Rd entrance), Located at the southwest corner of Washtenaw and Platt

WHO: Fellow Cal alums, new Cal admits and their families

WHY: Because it’s been months since you’ve had the chance to trade college stories with people who get it AND because you want to make sure the incoming freshmen Bears know where it’s at when they get to Berkeley

This event is entirely FREE for all current Cal Alumni Association - Michigan Club members. Membership is just $15 for the whole year and includes many benefits including free access to many of our socials and events. It also makes you an official and vital part of the Cal alumni crew here in Michigan. For non-member alums and guests this event is $5. This is to cover costs, ‘cause you know we gotta treat our little baby Bears before they start their journey out West in Berkeley.

Remember to tell us you’re coming! We’d love to have you and want to be certain to have plenty of food for you when you get here! Please RSVP via e-mail to calalumniofmichigan@yahoo.com or phone at 510.825.5561.

This event is our little Cal tradition away from home in honor of our beloved alma mater. We hope to see you there!

Viewing Party - Football vs. Eastern Washington

Posted By: Scott @ 11:24 am - 09/11/2009
Categories: Viewing Parties, Events

The viewing party is on for watching our No. 10 California Golden Bear football team take on the Eastern Washington Eagles. Here are the details:

WHO: Spirited Cal fans like yourself (or any others you’d like to invite)
WHAT: Eastern Washington Viewing Party
WHERE: 2233 S Huron Pkwy APT #3
WHEN: Saturday Sept 12, 2009 @ 5:30pm or ~7:30pm (will explain below)
WHY: Because watching a Golden Bear devour an eagle will be awesome. Frankly - I agree with Benjamin Franklin that our national bird should have been a turkey.

Now - there are two options for times due to the Michigan/Notre Game conflict:

(1) Watch the Cal game LIVE starting at 5:30pm

(2) Finish watching/attending the Michigan vs. Notre Dame game, which should end around 7:00pm. Then watch the Cal game on DVR delay.

My current plan is option #2. If there is an overwhelming desire to watch the Cal game live at my place, then send me an e-mail and let me know.

See you Saturday!

Go Bears, Beat the Eagles
Go Blue, Beat the Irish

Viewing Party - Football vs. Washington

Posted By: Scott @ 2:36 am - 12/5/2008
Categories: Viewing Parties, Events

This is the regular season finale, vs. the 0-11 University of Washington Huskies. Despite playing a winless team, post-Big Game, with the bowl game destination essentially set in stone, the football team sounds motivated to perform well.

This will be our seventh viewing party of the year. For possibly the first time all year, we will be able to watch the game in beautiful high definition. So come on over and enjoy good football, good friends, good drinks, and good food.

Where:
Scott Moura’s Apartment
2233 South Huron Parkway, #3
Ann Arbor, MI  48104

When:
Saturday December 6, 2008 @ 3:00 pm

The Club will be providing chips, soft drinks, other beverages. Please feel free to bring anything more you may like.

In the mean time, here’s some reading material to get everyone up to speed on this week’s game:

In other news, WE HAVE THE AXE!!! The foam axe, to be specific. Later on we will post pictures from the Big Game party, including yours truly receiving the foam axe from the bitter Stanford club. Ha!
